Quayside, Toronto
Standard Practice was tasked by Waterfront Toronto to create a concept study over 3,500,000 SF of mixed-use development and a cultural building for blocks 1-5 at Toronto’s Quayside.
The goal was to create a believable scenario for bidding developer teams to build out these 5 city blocks over the next 5-7 years. The emphasis is on inclusionary housing, accessibility and sustainability, and a higher quality of construction. A mix of senior housing, affordable units as well as market rental and condominiums is being proposed.
Multi-storey retail at grade to line Queens Quay East, new connecting streets and breeze-ways. By continuing Queens Quay East and straightening out Parliament St, additional areas are unlocked, creating further value. It also creates a centre for the new development, along the new harbour envisioned by landscape architects West 8 from Rotterdam, the new Silo Park and the future cultural building.
